One of the most popular charitable giving initiatives in the US is GivingTuesday, which organizes an annual day of giving when millions of people around the world come together to support and champion the causes they believe in and the communities in which they live. While GivingTuesday is usually celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, a new initiative called GivingTuesdayNow is taking place on May 5, 2020 in an effort to respond to the unprecedented need presented by the Covid-19 crisis.
GivingTuesdayNow is intended as to unite us in a time where we all may be feeling disconnected and to bring us together through the shared experience of giving back. This special day of giving will take place in addition to the regularly scheduled GivingTuesday.
To participate in GivingTuesdayNow, visit the website below to find many sources of inspiration. Our team at Bright Funds suggests creating a GivingTuesdayNow giving campaign or organizing a remote volunteer activity or collection of activities for that day! These ideas are great ways to engage with the community, and provide opportunities to highlight key nonprofit partners in this time of need.
In honor of GivingTuesdayNow, Bright Funds has curated the Coronavirus GivingTuesdayNow Fund, to address key issue areas heavily impacted by the COVID-19 crisis:
- Medical Needs
- Mental Health
- Children and Youth
- Income and Basic Needs
- Social Justice
